In the beginning of the universe, since God has no beginning, was the Word - information, and valid information at that, not misinformation which is not information at all, so true information or Truth - and this Truth as the Word was with God, the One "I Am" as Existence personified, and the Word of Truth was God - the One Superposition of physics as the net accumulation of all constituent waveforms of everything within. He, as these Words as units of Truth, was in the beginning of the universe with the One Superposition of all Truth, God. All things, like the particle zoo of physics and light and space and time and geometry, came into being through Him, the eternal Truths which are independent from any existence (as 1+1=2 is forever True without anything else existing at all) and without Him not even one created thing came into being that has come into being; but God as a non-created thing was in existence prior to the beginning of the universe. In Him, these Words of Truth, was Life, and the life was the light of men, no other kind of light, and having no other meaning, the origin of the food chain, where the Light feeds the plants that feed the animals, keeping everything alive. In physics, Light is called "the carrier of information", again valid information, as information must be valid or it is misinformation, and the Photon is a unit of Light, so equivalent to a unit of information, so equivalent to a Word of Truth. The Word that was with God in the beginning of the universe is the Light of men, the photons that Science sees from which the universe was created in their Big Bang Theory, where a small region of space underwent a "hyper-inflationary" period and grew to the size of our universe in less than one trillionth of a second. And the Light shines in the darkness, because everything not Light is dark, and everything not dark is Light, and the darkness did not overtake it, because nothing can go as fast as (uninfluenced) Light.
The Big Bloom Theory
What Science sees in the Big Bang Theory is the coherent existence of one superposition of all constituent coherent waveforms that suddenly decomposed into a multitude of its internal waveforms - the individual waveforms of light, and perhaps even black-holes within event horizons as persistent inner superpositions. In that instant, the enormous electromagnetic (EM) field as the amplitude of the one superposition caused many (most? all?) of the individual waveforms of light to decohere into their constituent particle pairs, electrons (e-) of matter and positrons (e+) of antimatter, as observed in heavy atomic nuclei. These electrons, positrons, and photons continued to interact, and matter-antimatter interactions created new light while local EM fields created more particle pairs during this process over a period of time that left its footprint as the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation we observe today. The macro-scale (bigger than an atom) mass-interactions of matter-to-matter and of antimatter-to-antimatter is an attractive acceleration of gravity, but between macro-scale systems of matter and antimatter is a repulsive acceleration (due to opposite signs on their velocities, as characterized by Richard Feynman in QED, so an electron with v=dx/dt is like a positron with v=-dx/-dt. The math proof is elsewhere). This repulsive acceleration over time causes separation of matter and antimatter systems, explaining the observational asymmetry within any system of one or the other, while the quantum mechanical systems interacted to form Light from matter/antimatter interactions, and to form matter/antimatter particle-pairs during high energy light interactions in strong EM fields, and the universe has been evolving from the One Superposition to the decomposed individual Light photon words and wave-particles whose accumulations build up into stable relationships as superpositions within it.
Harmonizing Scripture and Science
In Biblical Scripture, God is "I Am", which personifies Existence itself, and God is One, a direct parallel to the One Superposition, which is the mechanism of the ubiquitous Quantum Field of quantum mechanics' QFT, in everything, and with everything comprised of it - exactly as the Bible says and Science sees. And in the beginning, at the Big Bang, was The Word as the Life, as the root of the food chain where plants "eat" light and then feed animals - and the Light of men, not any other kind or meaning, and everything in the universe was created from these Words, as units of valid information (or truth), Biblically from Light created by God as The Spirit of Truth, and physically as the carrier of information in Science whose units are Photons which carry accurate information. The direct parallel is striking. There was no internal way for those 2000+ years ago to realize the parallel with what Science sees today.

The first 4 verses are justifications to believe that what John saying is valid, summarized as, "we have seen it and bear witness". The point to be made is so important, "they declare unto us, so that we also may have fellowship with them." So this point is the key to having fellowship with them, "And truly their fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ." So what is this message that is so important it needed to come with the fullest justification as to its veracity as a testimony of direct experience? God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. This is literal and physically real, as well as metaphorical as Truth is like light, containing information, where darkness is falsehood, deliberate as lies and deception or otherwise, as from lack of understanding or information - but omniscient God has all information and no darkness within; all is known and all from Him is True since God does not lie, like light does not lie - in physics light is called the "carrier of information", and we know error and falsehood are not information, being lies or merely wrong as misinformation. What is 'darkness'? Literally, anything that is not light is dark - like matter and electrons and protons and neutrons - all the stuff of physics that makes our bodies is dark, not made of photons of light (which nevertheless participate in every atom, molecule, and cell).
So God is light, but is all light God? God is One per Scripture, called Existence personified as "I am"; in physics, the existence of the One Superposition is the net accumulation of every superposition and waveform within. What we see in The Big Bang is the One Superposition transforming to produce all the individual wave-particles of Light that science says created all that's in the universe, and The Bible says created everything created in the universe. And this creation was through The Word of the Bible as the Light of men in discrete packets of valid information, words as photons, and the way photons interact with non-photons - in physics called Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) as invented by Nobel Prize winning Physicist, Richard Feynman. These individual wave-particles began to interact, and accumulate, and form the universe we see, whether with our eyes or in Cosmology where the evidence points directly to this One superposition and its transformation to include individual photons of light that over the ages gave rise to all we know, and the particle-zoo that physics observes to produce the universe we interact within, described mathematically by various laws (such as conservation laws and symmetries), definitions (such as characterize physical properties), and relationships (like velocity, energy, or momentum). But every individual waveform and every superposition and all accumulations form within the One Superposition, and their physical amplitudes contributes to the whole, always increasing the One Superposition, always within and contained by it - even as it, or what scientists call The Universe continues to expand and increase at an apparently accelerating rate. So God is One means on its face that all is God. But within the One are separate organizations of superpositions of light and darkness, energy and matter, and, spiritually, Truth or Falsehood. These are The Word, the Light that the One I Am said, "Let there be", that was with The One Superposition as God in the beginning of the universe (since God has no beginning).

The Triality that Science sees is the Trinity the Bible describes. Despite the common view that Science disagrees with Scripture, we see how they harmonize in characterizing the same reality at the most fundamental level once we translate the words into their ultimate meaning, uniting the Physical and the Spiritual in one cohesive consistent description of Reality.
